There weren't any speed cameras back then, so you could just drive flat out in it for example. I only passed my test in the mid 00's but we used to go to skeg all the time fantastic road in the summer with fish and chips at the end. Now it is all 40/50mph. Not a single part is NSL anymore and must have at least ten cameras along the A52 leading into skeg. To be fair, flat out in an 88 Metro I don’t think Le

The general demise of the generic sports car is a shame but there are multiple logical reasons for it, some good like the democratisation of performance and others far from good, the inability of younger generations to indulge in non essential garage items. But I don't see it as a bad time for actual sports car enthusiasts as we have a plethora of modern classics, many older classics are being released from their prisons at lower and lower prices and the low volume manufacturer exemption opens the door wide to real innovation for some new cars at a range of values. The sports car will always be around for genuine enthusiasts of them but the real change is that non enthusiasts no longer have a need for them. The other very big question for us as all the classic sports cars come up for sale is whether we buy them to look at in storage or decide to simply revel in the consumption of them and then sell the wreck after 15/20 years of use and fun? Do we spend £40k on something we spend 20 years trying to protect like a collectible doll in a special room or do we take it out of its packaging and just use it like a normal child?Personally, I live by the latter. If I can't afford to use a car whenever I want, however I want and do whatever I want to it then I can't actually afford that car in the first instance. And I also suspect that in 20 years time the next owner will just want the shell and the drivetrain will be junked so let's just all indulge ourselves and use these things as much as we want and consider the money spent on leisure rather than invested for someone else who is going to be binning most of it anyway. It is a difficult one as you say DA. My weekend cars aren't actually worth much money...but that's probably a good thing because I don't use them enough really, and both our daily driv
