증상
르노 라구나(2000년식)에서는 신호등에 접근할 때 차가 완전히 멈추거나 거의 멈출 때까지 높은 기어에서 1단으로 미리 변속할 수 없었음. 볼보 V70(2006년식)으로 교체 후 이 문제가 개선됨.
처리 내용
볼보에는 1단에 싱크로메시(동기식 변속 기구)가 장착되어 있고, 르노에는 없었을 것으로 추정됨. 싱크로메시는 변속 시 기어박스 샤프트의 회전 속도를 빠르게 맞춰주는 메커니즘으로, 더블 디클러치(클러치 페달 → 변속 → 클러치 해제 → 클러치 재진입 → 다시 변속) 없이 신속하고 부드러운 변속을 가능하게 함. 1960년대 이후 대부분의 차량에 탑재되었지만, 비용 절감을 위해 많은 차량이 1단과 후진 기어에는 싱크로메시를 생략했음(거의 항상 차가 멈춘 상태에서 이 기어들을 선택하기 때문). 그러나 볼보 같은 고급 차량들은 비용이 덜 중요한 고급 사양 차에서는 싱크로메시를 장착했으며, 고객들은 더욱 정교한 변속감을 기대함.

2000 911 996 클램셸 모터 설치 중 모터 샤프트가 트랜스미션 케이블과 정렬되지 않음. 저항을 6.2로 설정했으나 클램셸을 서비스 위치(최대 후진)에 놓았을 때도 정렬 문제 발생.
