I have had my 2020 911 serviced by Porsche since new and its now coming up to 80,000 miles.It has always had everything it needs. Within the last 20,000 miles it has had a PDK flush, oil changes, filters, coils, plugs belts you name it.Runs like a top.One habit I have is changing the oil before it gets cold, maybe put and extra change in too as 20,000 miles is too long between changes.In June I booked it in 2,000 miles and a couple of months early for an oil and filter. £450. The service was actually due in October, but I felt like it. It has only done 800 miles since.Porsche rang me 2 weeks ago asking if I wanted a service. I reminded them they had just done an oil change and filter. Had they forgotten to reset the service interval? I asked how much it would cost. The service light had now come on because of the date.The answer was £1,300 + VAT.I asked what they wanted to do. They said they would call me back. They didThe answer was "a service". I asked again, what it was they wanted to do. "The answer was "service it". They know me and they also know I qualified as a mechanic in my youth, which was slightly insulting.I gave up at that point and drove around to see my mate who owns an independent VW garage. Within 5 minutes we had looked at the brakes (fine), checked the brake fluid (like new) and reset the service indicator. The tyres are new. No oil leaks etc. The bill was nothing. The car will be fine for the next 20,000 miles, however I will do the oil well before that point.What do I think about all this?I think the dealers are getting desperate for revenue for there workshops, The girl that rang me had obviously called me because she was told to as part of a strategy to create business.I know the German brands are in trouble because of Chinese imports, I know the Taycan was a bit of a disater too.The main problem they face though is that in over 250,000 miles of driving Teslas, I have never had a service or a bill apart from tyres, cabin filters and wiper bla
