증상
타이로드를 교체한 후 스티어링 링키지에 대해 생각해봤는데, 내측 볼조인트가 내측 서스펜션 링크와 같은 위치에 있는지 확실하지 않음. 직진할 때는 괜찮지만 회전할 때는 위치가 다를 것 같음. 이 경우 휠이 상하로 움직이면 타이로드가 휠을 밀거나 당기게 되는데, 이게 맞는지 확인하고 싶음.
처리 내용
바퀴가 요철을 만날 때 스티어링이 변하는 현상을 범프 스티어(Bump steer)라고 하는데, 이는 질문의 첫 부분과는 무관함. 운전자가 바퀴를 회전시킬 때(범프 스티어가 아니라), 스티어링 컴포넌트의 기하학적 구조상 내측 타이어(어느 쪽이든)가 외측 휠보다 더 타이트하게 회전함. 이는 각 타이어가 서로 다른 호 위에 있고 다른 거리를 주행하기 때문임. 만약 이렇게 되지 않으면 코너링 중 차량 전면이 버킹하고 요(yaw)가 발생함. 범프 스티어는 다른 원리임. 범프 스티어는 전륜(독립 서스펜션의 경우 후륜도 가능하지만 훨씬 적음)이 도로의 요철을 만날 때 상하로 움직일 때 발생함. 타이어가 상하로 움직일 때, 타이로드의 실제 길이가 단축되므로, 스티어링 메커니즘이 앞쪽에 있으면 토인(Toe in)이, 뒤쪽에 있으면 토아웃(Toe out)이 발생함.
