Rimac claim that accolade with the Nevera (200kg tub weight).Note of pedantry - hand-laid, autoclave-cured carbon fibre is also carbon fibre reinforced plastic - they're all just fibres embedded in a polymer resin (AKA plastic). Some are much higher performance than others, but it's all CFRP.

Doubt the £500M is covering the cost, plenty already spent? Also, the firm has plenty of insight into SUV platforms - look at the CEO's background.. That's why he was given the job I guess but that's still a daunting task to recruit & train a whole team of designers, engineers and factory workers to build an SUV.In the past, just recruiting an extra shift on the production line in the Woking area was not easy. As a previous poster has said, it's not simply a case of 'build it and they will come'.Building a car is the easy part.Nailing the attributes, pricing, positioning and marketing to be genuinely competitive and appealing in this segment and still make a sufficient margin, is a Herculean task. Whilst also fixing existing brand perceptions of poor reliability, dodgy build quality and a sketchy dealer experience. Will they be encouraging new customers into the segment or trying to steal share from the existing players? Stealing share can be tough if your dealer network gets a bigger margin from selling Urus', Cayennes, Purosangues, DBX's and Q8's.I remember naively chatting to a Group dealer principal at a launch event, singing the praises of our new car only to be told flatly that he makes and extra 3% per vehicle selling our competitors product...Took the wind out of my sails somewhat. So, all in all, not impossible but very, very hard. It will require a lot of money and a lot of patience from investors. Both notoriously tricky to come by.I remain unconvinced. The majority of the Forseven staff were made redundant in the merger and the original SUV designs and plans were scrapped. I believe the McLaren SUV is largely clean sheet. £500m is highly optimistic given that the going rate for the production of any new vehicle is pegged around £1bn regardless of what you actually make. Best of luck to them!

Some other manufacturers like Volvo and Mercedes were well known for them tooHowever, this evening I randomly found the following image of a Talbot Solaro, and it got me thinking about what other cars are there where headlight wipers were availableA few others that spring to mind:Any other obscure ones?

Priced at £5000 less with some stonking finance deals, it should have done better.....but was it just too expensive to build? The big gap between the outgoing cars and the new one is a good idea and possibly intentional to create the biggest possible impact. I think this is going to do very well indeed. I'm looking forward to it, and seeing my first one on the road. If they couldn't build cars well enough to compete with Audi, BMW, and Mercedes or lo

I've got my Phaeton with the 6HP to do soon, a bit more involved as a job, but it's already had a box and a torque converter in the last 50k, so it hasn't been left forever without maintenance - I've heard the 6HP19s seem to like to give trouble! It's my first torque converter auto (in 70 cars of manuals, and 1 DSG!)If I'd kept my old E320cdi I'd have certainly ended up getting the gearbox serviced. I bought it with 104k on

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
