The DDE of my car was until recently only unlockable with very few methods, hence I wasn't able to reflash it via OBD as I had done on my prior 330i with the B48. I had put a tuning box on it but it always felt like a half-measure to me. A few weeks ago, some sort of breakthrough was done and apparently loads of DMEs/DDEs with the locked bootloader (ie post-2020 or thereabouts) could be unlocked via OBD. I still had my tool from the 3series, and bought a new unlock license and then a reflash license from Diesel+ and went happily away to proceed. Turns out, my ECU wasn't actually supported yet Refund for the unlock license requested but I still had a stage 1 license... Not to be defeated, I reached out to a localish tuner and they were able to bench-unlock my module on the same day and then I flashed the remap. Nothing too extreme, 310bhp and 710Nm with a temporary overboost to 320hp. I liked this solution as they have some nice safeties in place (>70c oil temp for full power, various temp and DPF limits etc). In other news, there is an apparent recall for the rear diff connections, so it's booked in for next week to have that sorted. I think it might be linked to a NHTSA recall that was issued across the pond. I also had another puncture of the rear nearside tyre, not sure what's going on there.
