Went to a small local show that I heard about on the grapevine, at a place called Path Head watermill, a beautiful setting a few miles from my place, but somewhere I'd never heard of or visited. It was a nice enough day, but the turnout was poor, mainly due to there being several other better advertised car events on that day. Still, as a venue for walking the dog and getting a coffee if nothing else, it was a nice discovery to find pretty much on my doorstep. The cars were generally in lovely nick, the X19 was immaculate. The MR2 was interesting to me, not just as a fellow owner, but also for
It's April, I'm not in Southampton working, the forecast is good and there's a car meet to go to. That means one thing. Prep the Evo for it's first drive of the year, and tax it. Not as straightforward as it sounds, given the garage it resides in was looking like an explosion in a B&Q factory, the Evo itself was full of house renovation bks, due to the fact I'm currently renovating 2 flats and until recently storage was a headache. Not any more though, as I'm the proud owner ( well renter ) of yet another garage where I live, so I spent the afternoon relocating house crap from my house garage to me rented one a couple off doors up. I finally have enough garage space to house all 5 vehicles, 3 at home, and the 2 I rent are 27 ft deep, meaning a significant amount of extra space even with a car or van in there. So, finally extricated and taffied up in preparation for what I hope won't turn to to be some sort of benevolent fund for the local police. This meet isn't one I've attended before, it involves an initial meeting place, then a drive out to what used to be the site of the highest caff in the UK before it burnt down, and from experience has some roads that are very much Evo territory. My concern with these things is always the same, the standard of driving from those who aren't minded to keep their speed out of the view of other none sympathetic observers, and there's a guilt by association element if you're in a convoy of this type. I'll wing it, and if I don't like the look of it, I'll sod off and do my own thing. Having just been and had a look, the Evo still has half a tank of Shell 99 octane in it. That'll be at least 6 months old now. I'll try and burn off as much of that as possible, probably tonight after I finish typing this, so I can brim it with fresh later on and not worry about driving it hard tomorrow if the opportunity presents itself. I'm not prone to enjoying early starts, so I'll get that out of the way tonight I think! It's taxed for another 6 mon

I started this thread really with a question about pros and cons of putting an AJP or something else in my scrap Cerbera and it has morphed into a project build thread over time. Brief history:I was thinking about buying myself a fun sports car, there's nothing new in the £50-80k range I would particularly be interested in. Had to feel special, had to be light, "analogue" and not overly-assisted. Had to be manual and i prefer a large capacity NA to forced induction. Ford Mustang maybe, perhaps not quite special enough and a bit porky. Emira - I love Lotus and have had a few but i'm not a fan o

After writing off my BMW 320d halfway through the month, I suddenly found myself in the market for a new car.Once the insurance payout landed, I had just under £5,500 to play with after paying my excess. I spent hours trawling AutoTrader trying to find the right replacement.I'd lined up a BMW X5 that was slightly over budget and was due to view it today... only for it to sell yesterday before I got the chance. Frustrating, but that's just how it goes.I kept looking, but nothing else really grabbed me.Then I spotted a Range Rover Sport on AutoTrader just five miles away. I called the dealership
