So I had to cease driving in December 2024 for medical reasons. Since its classed as "historic" the insurance is only for named drivers, noone else is covered to drive it. So it has sat inside a garage all summer and all winter. The car in question is a 1973 Land Rover SWB series 3, and it has a Holden 202 cubic inch, 6 cylinder petrol engine. The vehicle has been converted to be dual fuel in the 90's and ran perfectly fine on LPG. Over the last 10 months, I have topped off the battery with a trickle charger every 2 months, and it still reads 12.54 V. I have jacked it up and rotated

I wouldn't deprive you of the enjoyment of bestowing all that loving care on the vehicle before you start it, but I think it's a bit extreme and mostly unnecessary except for checking the engine oil and coolant levels and tire (tyre?) pressure. It's been 10 months, not 10 years! This assumes that you don't have puddles of fluid under the vehicle and suspicion that other fluid levels might be low. The fact that it runs on LP gas and (presumably) was last run on LP and not petrol eliminates the worries of varnishing of fuel or corrosion from water in fuel. It also makes the next step that I will recommend quite easy. It's likely that after 10 months, the oil film that clings to the engine's internal moving parts after shutdown has thinned so much that you have some danger of unlubricated metal to metal contact in the first moments of running under power. We can avoid that. I'd like you to crank the engine but prevent it from starting . You can simply valve off the LP gas to accomplish th

2012 Malibu, 140k. Started about 1-2 months ago. It cranks but doesn’t start. The lights, radio, etc, come on just fine. I replaced the battery first off. The parts shop said the battery was borderline, it was due, so I replaced it. Still having it. Sometimes it starts and runs fine. Sometimes it cranks but doesn’t start.
