ahh the old wife killed my car .which had the RAC and police in fits of laughter !Many moons ago i had a Lexus 3.0 sportcross fairly low mileage 60k , it was using a bit of water , so i suspected the head gasket was probably on the way out. and parked it up on the drive ,in prep to having it changed. Then i got called on a job overseas away for 6 weeks . Whilst i was away the wife invited the MIL to stay and she arranged a trip with our kids and boxer dog over to Exbury gardens for a picnic . She decided to use my car as it had more room for the dog . Then i got a phone call from the wife ..."Hi love ............err.... i think i killed the car "Which car ? Err your car !Oh .......What happened ?well we all went to Exbury gardens .......it was a lovely day and we took Luna who was chasing squirrels ..........Then when we were on our way home , the car stated to make a funny noise ..........and then lights started to blink on the dash .What did you do ? Well we got onto the M27 and you cant stop on the motorway , so we carried on ....but then smoke started to come out of the bonnet and it was making a funny noise ...........Mum said she thought it was a squirrel trapped under the bonnet , perhaps it had got in from Exbury. ?At this stage i was laughing over the phone It wasnt funny ,,, the car started to slow down what did you do Well we were still on the motorway in the slow lane so i put my foot down on the accelerator ......with hazard lights on ...........then the car slowed so we pulled onto the hard shoulder and all got out behind the barrier .That was good ...then what happened well we called the RAC ...and whilst on the phone the police arrived i told the officer , we though we might have a trapped animal under the bonnet , but he thought it was very unlikely .... he popped the bonnet and smoke or steam billowed out . ...definitely no sign of an animal he said laughing . Then the RAC man arrived and they recovered the car onto the drive ..........I was
