I had an extended test drive in one and it was utterly brilliant.
SanJunipero said: I ve had my i8 for over 10 years now since new and it s the best car I ve had. Previously owned an e46 m3 and an e90 m3 and this is the one car that I ve never got to upgrading. It s done 40k miles and the combination of looks (the photonic blue still turns heads), practicality, and being able to drive to work using only the battery is an impressive combination. The rear seats are fine for short journeys but very useful for luggage for a weekend away or dropping off at the airport. Also have done a few trips in ice and snow and the 4 wheel drive makes it very stable. In all that time the only issues I ve had are the boot catch not releasing, and the air conditioning unit. Both of which were fixed under warranty. Tyres are a bit expensive at around £240 a corner. I ve considered a 911 but in my opinion the i8 looks so much more special. Considered a McLaren but would miss the rears seats and the practicality. Maybe a Ferrari Roma is the only car that I ve seriously considered replacing it with but it s a bit out of my budget at present. Battery is around 80% of what it was when it was brand new which I am impressed with. 10 years on and the car still gets compliments and people wanting to take pictures. Whilst I am in now way making a comparison, for obvious reasons, the battery pack in our Honda CRZ is still in rude health after 16 years, and the one in my dad's Auris similarly healthy

This advertorial stuff is getting a bit out of hand. It’s not journalism, as it’s not very well researched and no balanced view on the price being asked. Should come with a health warning or something.

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
