My G42 is back at BMW for the second round of headlight replacement - this time it’s just diagnosis as the revised parts aren’t available yet but i wanted to be in the queue for their eventual availability. Why am I posting about this on my MINI thread? Well, look at the courtesy car they’ve given me!Obviously it’s huge and ugly as sin but I quite like the interior. God knows what this list price on it would be. It’s JCW spec with seemingly all the options ticked. I can’t imagine they sell a huge number, but as small(ish) family SUV’s go it’s at least offering something a bit different.

That said, there was one other period correct OEM MINI wheel that was a bit of a unicorn the lesser spotted one piece R90 (which is also an inch smaller than its 2-piece brother):I ve kept an eye out for these 16 R90 and seen maybe half a dozen sets come up for sale. Prices have been a bit all over the place and none have been anything like local. For various reasons I d missed out on every set id seen to-date but whilst sunning myself by the pool on holiday last week a set appeared on Facebook. They were bound to sell in the week before I got back to the UK but I shot the seller a message that if he could hold them I d pay the (strong) asking price, leave a deposit and drive (2hours) to collect as soon we could arrange. Luckily the seller was a gentleman, took no deposit, held them and was willing to WFH to allow my preferred weekday collection. Hurrah!So at 06:45 this morning I departed up the A14, midlands bound and before 09:00 they were safely in the back of our Kodiaq and heading home!For now they re sitting at the back of the garage pending a refurb and fresh rubber (195/55, 205/50 or even 205/55 - decisions, decisions!). No rush to get this done as I have something even bigger planned for the MINI first, but that s under wraps until later this Summer!Are these r53 fitment?I’m prevaricating over different wheels.
