Watching Matt's preview of the new BMW 3 series he revealed one milestone feature - "Driver Routines" Timestamp: 4:30https://youtu.be/NJJxakiMqgQ?t=270BMW has added driver routines (profiles) with logic conditions (eg. When you start the car) ... to toggle various system including stop/start ... lane assist, speed warnings etc. The profile is bound to the driver entering the car (key).This is very much welcomed but does anyone know why we couldn't have had this much earlier - is it new EU legislation, or have BMW found a clever loophole to bypass the EU regs to avoid having these system always
Freakuk said: I'm guessing all BMW have done is setup a routine to run after the car has started, technically the systems have to be enabled by default and then a user can choose to disable etc. So you are still starting the car, the systems will be enabled and the routine then disables them... sounds like a loophole they have exploited.Yep agree. It starts in 'normal operation', but the routine is set to immediately turn it off. Seems a bit cheeky to meIntelligent Speed Assistance regulation says(b) it shall be possible to switch off the system; information about the speed limit may still be provided, and intelligent speed assistance shall be in normal operation mode upon each activation of the vehicle master control switch;

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
