NHTSA 자료에 따르면 하이드로플래닝 발생 속도 계산 공식: 하이드로플래닝 속도 = 10.35 × √공기압(psi) 예시: - 30 psi: 시속 56.7 mph에서 하이드로플래닝 발생 가능 - 25 psi: 시속 51.8 mph에서 하이드로플래닝 발생 가능 - 20 psi: 시속 46.3 mph에서 하이드로플래닝 발생 가능 결론: 공기압이 낮을수록 하이드로플래닝이 더 잘 발생한다. 주요 원인: 1. 저압 타이어는 노면과의 접촉 면적이 크므로 타이어가 노면에서 들뜰 때 필요한 수압이 낮아진다. 2. 저압 타이어는 노면에 오목한 형태로 접하므로, 타이어 아래 갇힌 물이 타이어 중심선을 향해 흐르면서 물을 배출하지 못한다. 반대로 고압 타이어는 낮은 접촉 면적으로 인해 물을 더 효과적으로 배출할 수 있다.
