증상
랙 앤 피니언 스티어링에서 안쪽 바퀴가 바깥쪽 바퀴와 다른 각도로 회전해야 미끄러짐을 방지할 수 있는데, 같은 랙으로 연결된 두 바퀴가 어떻게 다른 경로를 따를 수 있는지 궁금함
처리 내용
이것을 애커만 스티어링 메커니즘(Ackermann steering mechanism)이라고 합니다. 애커만 스티어링 기하학 원리에 기반을 두고 있습니다. 두 개의 스티어링 암이 특별하게 설계되어 있어서, 휠이 회전하는 중심점(너클 중심)과 타이로드 엔드 연결점을 선으로 그었을 때 두 선의 교점이 리어 디퍼렌셜 지점에서 만나게 됩니다. 두 암이 각도를 이루고 있기 때문에, 바퀴를 꺾을 때(좌회전이든 우회전이든) 안쪽 타이어가 바깥쪽 타이어보다 더 많이 회전하게 됩니다. 이 설계는 회전 각도가 아무리 커도 턴 호(turning arc)가 액슬 평면과 교점을 유지하도록 합니다. 이 교점을 액슬 평면 위에 배치함으로써 턴 센터 반경 위에도 배치하게 되어, 코너링할 때 두 앞바퀴의 회전 호를 올바르게 유지합니다. 이론상으로는 그렇지만 실제로는 완벽하게 작동하지 않으며, 항상 어느 정도의 편차가 발생합니다.
