Bought a 1.6Tsi version of this for my son to learn to drive in around 8 years ago. He passed and had it as his daily for a few years, then upgraded, I now have this as my dump car. I must say what a reliable car this has been. No major issued over the years, OK, the door locks have gone, common problem, but for leaving here there and anywhere, chucking the dogs in or a trip to the dump, what a reliable well engineered piece of kit. For what it costs to run etc, OK, front wing tops are rusty.... But Id rather use this than someone ding my door on my Bentley! Edited by Trusty Steed on Friday 9

No wonder it's been for sale a fortnight.Someone didn t get a relaxing nights sleep ..Yeah people do talk some s**t on here. it has passed its last 3 MOTs with no advisories so hardly rusting out is it... Personally I would be happy to take a punt on that. I drove one about 2 years ago which was a 55 plate on 132K miles at the time and that one WAS quite rusty, well the front wings were but it drove beautifully and that was before it had a suspension refresh. Engine felt very strong IMO and just a lovely well damped flowing feel to the suspension. I was for a while seriously considering buying one as I have never owned a Golf GTI and always seriously regretted not grabbing my 1990s favourite, the big bumper MK 2 16 valve when they were cheap, so for me, this is a last chance to own a very cheap MK5 before they start appreciating and believe me they will do in time.......PS my friend had his wings replaced, its not the end of the world. I see this one does have some rust on the front wings but for the money I still think its a cheap car if you want to hold onto it for a bit.

원문 보기 ↗I am a self confessed VW fan boy, with a Mk2 & Mk6 in the current fleet, albeit non-GTIs. My Mk6 Estate is a Mk5 in new clothes, and it is near immortal with 190k on the clock & no end in sight. That said, a cheap Mk5 GTI should be approached with extreme caution. There are hundreds on FB marketplace, both in running and being broken guises. It's a car that in general comes across as a rapidly disappearing model. This is a good thing, as in 5 years, there will only be true solid survivors left. I suspect this week's shed won't be amongst them.Edited by BFleming on Friday 9th October 08:18
I've always wanted to drive one of these, looks cracking.

A few years ago I saw Porsche 992 racers on 18", which looked ridiculous. So I asked why?Because they drive so much better on 18" sir.OK, I'll have a JAS Tensei NSX on 18" please...
