The Chinese manufactures could win the hearts and minds of the enthusiasts, but they would need to make and sell something that would appeal. I don't see them really trying to target any market other than the mass of buyers who are after low cost 3 year lease A-B motoring. If we take VW they have (as a general rule) sold quite staid normal A-B cars. But have had the GTI range say for that added spice for the "enthusiasts". BMW did the same and sold a lot more 318i than M3. So if BYD or Jaecoo started to make a GTI / M3 then perhaps. But in then they would need to put the price up, and so lose their main market advantage. Which I suspect they would not want to do as the current market strategy of lease cheap is going well for them. So I can't see a BYD being launched with a straight six, manual box and a rear LSD. At best it would be a tweaked 1.5 and a bigger battery to get the 0-60 down but as we know paper stats are only so much.
