증상
브레이크 액이 흡습성이 있어서 물을 흡수하고 라인에 녹이 생긴다는 말을 자주 듣는데, 현대식 브레이크 시스템은 가압 시스템이므로 공기에 직접 노출되지 않는다. 리저버에는 소량의 공기만 있고 항상 밀폐되어 있는데, 어떻게 그렇게 많은 물이 브레이크 액에 들어가서 문제가 될 수 있는지 이해가 안 간다.
처리 내용
브레이크 시스템이 정상 작동할 때 유압 부분은 기본적으로 밀폐된 상태다. 리저버 캡이 밀폐를 만들고 유연성이 있어서 시간 경과에 따라 액량이 감소해도 밀폐 상태를 유지한다 (디스크 브레이크에서 패드가 닳으면 캘리퍼 피스톤이 로터 쪽으로 나가므로 추가 액이 필요함). 그러나 시스템이 완전히 밀폐된 것은 아니다. 브레이크 라인과 리저버 캡 씰 같은 고무나 소재 부품들은 공기 투과성이 있어서 공기와 습기가 들어올 수 있다. 많은 양은 아니지만 시간이 지나면서 누적된다. 캡에 특수 장치를 달아도 장기간에 걸쳐 미량의 습기가 계속 침입하게 되므로 정기적인 브레이크 액 교체가 필요하다.

Lovely ready and I love your choice!! The E60 was one of the best M5s I ever had - On road and track Use it, and enjoy every moment of the magnificent engine!! I did more track days in my E60 than all my other cars in the past combined I would hazard a guess at. So many fond memories. My advice, put a decent set of brakes on it, I ended up with 12 Piston Calipers and 400mm rotas with all the track days I did and it really transformed it and the confidence it gave to the car.

I'm very observant when driving or walking, the other day I walked my son to school alongside a busy road, I reckon 80% of the cars that passed me were looking down at phones. I had a van pull out on me on a roundabout a few months ago and then slam his brakes on, phone clearly visible so I submitted the footage to TVP and to my surprise they sent me a letter confirming a prosecution. The amount of times I've had to swerve recently because of cars swerving onto my side of the road is diabolical.
