I love everything about it, including the colour scheme, but not so much the looks. But when you're driving it you don't see that anyway and it really was so advanced technically it deserves legendary status. Even if I'd still prefer a 288 GTO or an F40!

I appreciate you reading and wondering, DD. Corvettes have used run flats with great success. Porsche is very much against run flats even though they were used on the 959 - go talk to a Porsche service department if you want to check that. They will note the car comes with tire sealant, which doesn't work well. They also note that Porsche has an owners hot line for help - they do, though the drivers show up with trucks that can't accommodate a 911. Additionally, Porsche thinks the center lock wheel is great - even though one can only be removed at a dealer. So the doktors at Porsche will imperil their customers due to engineering hubris. Maybe you've read about the brands intermediate shaft issue which is evidence Porsche engineers will make critical mistakes. The hand wringing occurring right now at Porsche should focus on minimizing arrogance and offer products that are well engineered. Michael (Mikey) Leiters, the new CEO, can do this if he can overcome the company's culture. Thanks for the info - surprises me not one (Lamborghini) iota.I've long maintained that German engineers are well-disciplined, well-educated, thorough and have absolutely no commonsense. Hence the earlier oil filter in Worksop comment. The 959 was an absolute technical wonder, from double-trouble gearboxes and a lot of other stuff that is today commonplace. And troublesome...Another one I admired, but the 288 GTO was rather more likeable. It's nothing new; apparently the sophistication of the Messerschmitt Bf 109e and the Tiger tank caused field problems too - our uncompetitive dinosaurs were at least fixable with Stilsons & some wire...PS - I think you can probably crack those centre-locks with a length of scaffold pole. Or these rechargeable electric impact wrenches are probably less inconvenient.

My knees were always touching the steering wheel and the wheel always felt too low down. The seating position is easily sorted 997 (or 987 boxster) seats are a straight swap, they sit you lower ( give better support) and puts the steering wheel in a much better position.

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
