Filled up just as it was kicking off, £1.35/L. Now It's £1.86/L cheapest I can find that's not supermarket fuel. The UK is woefully underprepared for pretty much everything. Wouldn't like to think what would happen if we where at war.

Where is this money coming from?I'm suggesting that this same money that's being proposed to be spent on lowering fuel taxes could possibly be better spent on subsidising changes which would permanently reduce the UK's diesel demand, rather than subsidising our ongoing 'habit', which bill will keep recurring every month. What you are suggesting is already happening and is long term planning Bus and commercial fleets are already transitioning as are private cars. Order a new bus today and it could take up to two years to be delivered that's assuming every bus company doesn't decide they want one Yeah, and the average time to develop a new medicine is 10-15 years. But when there was an emergency, we found a way to develop covid vaccines rather faster than that. What I'm suggesting is that, responding to the urgency you describe, we look to accelerate this 'long term' transition on an emergency basis in as far as is possible over the next 3-6 months, by removing red tape and acting at scale.Earthdweller said: But none of that helps people get to work this winter, heat their homes this winter, stops food and all goods price inflation this winter caused by higher production and transportation costs which leads to more inflation, more expensive mortgages etc etc Over 40 countries have acted to help their citizens this winter, the UK Gov hasn't done anything And if every country 'helps their citizens' by a blanket cut in fuel duty, it will have precisely zero effect as the pre-tax price will rise to absorb the cut, since the price must rise until enough consumers are priced out of using diesel.I do agree about the problem, and that it may well be necessary to assist diesel consumers over the next six to twelve months.I think the overall goal should be to accelerate the migration away from burning diesel. This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
