Long Gearing(롱 기어링)이 무엇인가?

롱/숏 기어링은 기본적으로 변속기가 설계된 방식과 특정 속도에서 엔진이 몇 RPM으로 회전할지를 나타냅니다. 숏 기어링은 기어비가 촘촘하게 배치되어 빠른 변속과 최소한의 토크로 빠르게 가속할 수 있지만, 최고속도가 느린 것이 단점입니다. 작은 연비 효율 차량에서는 보통 시속 120km 이상으로 주행하지 않기 때문에 덜 중요합니다. 롱 기어링은 기어비가 넓게 배치되어 있으며, 최종 감속비(보통 오버드라이브)가 낮은 엔진 RPM에서도 높은 최고속도를 가능하게 합니다. 장거리 주행 시 연비가 좋아지지만 가속력이 느린 것이 단점입니다. 고속도로에서 계속 주행하는 경우 이러한 기어링을 원합니다. 보통 최종 감속비와 디퍼렌셜 기어링이 함께 작용하여 차량이 롱 기어링인지 숏 기어링인지를 결정합니다.
