Its purpose was to be used in the summer when you turned the Aga off. To be honest, I don't think the genius plan would work anyway as the discount energy windows are kept deliberately short and even if you could pull a full 3kw out for 6 hours that wouldn't get the Aga close to being up to temp and it would probably stop radiating any kind of measurable heating contribution by midday. Thermal batteries are certainly valid although commercially they just haven't made them viable. Companies like Tepeo have burned all their investor capital having spent it whinging about the nasty gubberment while trying to give units away to ecotards who then put a massive, grim, white unit in their living room to turn their home into a council bedsit. I'm not sure Caldera are doing much better trying to sell to commercial clients.
