Don't forgot the Fastback version
je777 said: My now edited post explains (I edited it as you were replying, clearly):Ferraris, etc. have never been any kind of safety concern because there are so few of them. Also, Luce aside, you can easily hear them coming.Until family cars started routinely getting 500bhp, it wasn't a problem. Once that kind of power is available to the masses, it's going to be an issue. Also, my original post explained that idiots are the problem - and many more idiots now have access to big power:'Far safer to have these power levels than giving relatively inexpensive family cars ridiculous acceleration times.Idiots in EVs regularly accelerate far too fast in urban areas where I live. Idiots in ICE cars do too, but they're much noisier, so you know they're doing it. There are also far fewer of them because fast ICE cars are more expensive - Teslas are cheap. If manufacturers carry on making family cars so powerful, the EU will decide it's a safety issue and legislate against it - and that will affect all cars.'The quietness might contribute to the risk, but they're not exactly silent. So it's mostly an objection to the common people getting their hands on performance that rightly belongs to their betters? Where are you drawing the line? Is an AMG A45S or a Golf R fine? A 335D? Motorcycles, they're fine, despite having had that sort of performance forever? Would your problem go away if they made loud antisocial noises through a speaker under hard acceleration?Sorry, this just feels like the Lotus Carlton pearl clutching again. And a dose of inventing reasons to criticise a type of car you fundamentally have a problem with.

Terminator X said: You know what he means, EV is cheap power Vs a similar power ICE. The EV is probably half the price. You will have people in 600hp EVs that would never have got there in a petrol car. Plus also you have people now getting into 600hp cars at a young age Vs the ICE route was always start off with a 90hp Polo or whatever and it might take you 20 years before you got that M5. Plenty of time to get used to the power gradually. TX. TX, when will you accept that EVs are the future of the car? It’s completely and utterly pointless pushing back against the inevitable progress? I’ve always thought these were a smart looking car. Seems like a bit of fun to be had as well. Charging not the best but I’d take a look if I wasn’t sticking to ICE for the foreseeable future.

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
