증상
MGF 엔진의 헤드 개스킷 조기 손상 문제. 냉각수 순환 설계상 서모스탯이 인테이크 측 워터펌프 베이스에 위치하여 블록이 충분히 가열되기 전에 헤드가 과열될 수 있음. 라디에이터의 찬 냉각수가 갑자기 유입되면서 서모스탯이 급폐쇄되어 헤드까지 냉각수 공급 부족 발생. 이로 인해 헤드와 블록 간 팽창·수축률 차이 발생으로 개스킷 손상.
처리 내용
MGF K-시리즈 헤드 개스킷 문제는 단일 원인이 아닌 여러 설계상 문제의 복합 결과: 1) 헤드볼트가 크랭크케이스 아래 래더 어셈블리에 결합되어 극히 길고, 열팽창 편차 증가로 클램프력 변동 심함. 2) 래더 어셈블리 자체의 유연성 부족. 3) 배기량 증가를 위해 반복적인 보어 확대로 실린더 벽 얇아짐. 4) 조립시 실린더 라이너 돌출부 공차 부족으로 불균등한 시링. 5) 비용 절감을 위해 헤드 위치 결정 다웰을 금속에서 플라스틱으로 변경. 6) 서모스탯 설계상 개방시 엔진에 찬물이 급격히 유입되어 온도 구배 발생, 특히 냉간 고회전시 헤드/블록 접합부에 전단력 작용. 7) 저토크 소형 엔진이 프릴랜더 같은 무거운 차에 장착되어 냉간 스트레스 회피 어려움. **해결방법**: K-시리즈를 올바르게 조립한 후 서모스탯이 완전히 개방될 때까지 순하게 운전하면 헤드 개스킷 고장률이 평범한 수준으로 낮아짐.

New car time for me. I picked this up this week after a 6 week delay thanks to the JLR cyber attack. I ordered it back in June so the overall wait hasn't been terrible. It replaces an M3 Touring that was great but felt a bit small at times. Since the Octa was announced I've loved the idea and all reviews of it are fantastic. The new Defender has grown on me since its introduction and the Octa really does seem to be a car that ticks most boxes for me.They come pretty well loaded as standard. I chose the standard car over the Edition One as I'm not a fan of huge amounts of carbon fibre. C
