I filled my car up today, and it came to £104.And then this thought struck me : If that were lager, it would have been over £500.

Same volume of diesel has 15% more energy than petrol, so it is worth more per litre. 2) Because the elasticity of demand is different. Diesel use tends to be inelastic in the short run whereas a lot of petrol consumption is domestic/ leisure based so that trip can be cancelled, reducing demand faster as prices rise3) Jet fuel and diesel are very similar distillates, a refinery can tweak how much to produce of each to some extent So diesel also has to 'compete' with jet fuel prices, which have also shot upBasically, diesel is more useful than petrol, so is more expensive. Why is then, when most cars were petrol, diesel was far cheaper than petrol?Surely it's supply and demand, rather than being more useful? The tax on it was less, effectively encouraging people to buy diesel's, which they then did, and that's when the government whacked to tax up to the same level as petrol.

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
