My 1997 LS400 had Toyota logos everywhere that wasn't visible from the driver's seat. In fact my 1987 MR2 Mk1 wasn't even built by Toyota, they contracted that out to Central Motors IIRC.There's always one Alan Partridge. Lexus is the result of the world's largest car company, already with a reputation for quality and reliability, showing what it can do when it tries really hard. 'Applying Lexus branding for some markets' hasn't been true for over 20 years, and in any case, AFAIK the only market where Toyota badging was used was the domestic Japanese market - they were always Lexus everywhere else. Besides, the cars were always a substantial step up from similarly sized Toyotas, with much nicer interiors, usually (2.2 diesel aside) with the best engine spec, superb paint etc, and are built on dedicated lines in the factories. As for Toyota logos on things, the same applies to Bentley and Rolls Royce, with VW and BMW badges on some components.
