Some of you may have stumbled upon my other Reader's Car thread about my experiences with a Ford S-Max 240 ecoboost down here in New Zealand (where the S-Max was never officially sold, all of them are grey imports, and are such rare cars that the only people you ever encounter who have heard of them are ex-UK where they were a lot more common). As I pointed out in that thread, I had to get a people mover-type car to transport a toddler and unexpected twins, and considering the purchase price was less than the first mile's worth of depreciation on a newer Kia Carnival or whatever, it was a good
Making some more progress with my manky little Citroen. Had a hilarious trip out in it going to watch the rugby with the car loaded to the gills with friends wanting a free ride - none of them had ever been in such a vehicle before. Found a pint-sized carpark that it slotted into perfectly meaning minimal walk to the stadium. Lugged about 400kg of friends all over town for an afternoon and evening, going from house-to-house, to the stadium, to the pub for dinner and so on. Also felt pretty old - at the ripe old age of 34 - when I pulled up the other day outside the takeaway shop and a bunch of "youffs" straight up said to me 'what is that rubbish car'? Jokes on them as the job market sucks for high school leavers/uni students and the housing market is unaffordable too (I jest). Have been using it a bit as a runabout/commuter type car as well, as it is so frugal on petrol as diesel got crazy expensive here (from ~$2-$4 per litre) so I was trying to minimise use of my diesel 4x4. Over the past few months it has probably saved me $50 per week in fuel and wear-and-tear-on-the-nice-car costs.Has generally been running well but have definitely noticed in stop/start traffic (despite it being relatively cool here at the moment) the temperature can climb a bit higher than I'd like. Out of interest I took it to the local radiator specialist - who comes highly recommended based on Google Reviews and a family recommendation. He took it to bits to see if he could clean it out better to improve performance, but actually called me to say that the radiator core itself is leaking (which wasn't picked up on by the main mechanic, not that I'd necessarily have expected them to pick up on that as I assume the radiator wouldn't have been removed when doing the timing belt?). He said he'd have a little rummage around in his warehouse, and turns out he has what he thinks is a suitable radiator core that can be fitted back in. So with any luck this will sort the radiator out, although I mig

Collected this yesterday. I had been waiting for the right spec car since Christmas. I wanted; Clubsport pack, PDK, dual zone climate, either shark or gentian blue, yellow sticking, leather dash, sports chrono, rear camera, FPSH and Porsche warranty. Everything that came up matching that was either over budget, sold before it was advertised or sold the day it was advertised. I even lost out on a car to Jay Kay, cool story, bro. I left my details and requirements with the likes of RPM and JZM in the hope of a call before a car was advertised. There was some time pressure. I naively booked a tra
