Insurance is one of those things that's got way cheaper over the last 30 years. My first years insurance wasn't much less than that nearly 30 years ago. Nearer to £3k in 2026 money.

Just like me, and I had a big crash within 12 months of passing which saw me in court. I didn’t want to see him go the same way. Possibly, it’s down to financial responsibility - my son bought his own car and is paying for his own insurance so appreciates the savings of the black box and the financial consequences of him crashing. Most of his mates have had expensive cars bought for them and insurance paid by parents.
