Wow! Lots of negativity here. I really like this. While it's not as chiselled / attractive as the previous XC60 (which we have), it's still an attractive and cleanly styled car, and way better than the bugs bunny BMW iX3 or cheesy open mouthed Merc to my eyes. I wasn't sure about the looks at first, but I've grown to like it. It's certainly more elegant than the mildly ugly fussy and overdone German opposition. The cream interior wears well - our XC60 is 8 years / 100k miles old, and it still looks fresh inside. It helps that neither of us wears jeans (hideous boring conformist things that the
At least the brighter colours make it look airy and pleasant enough inside. But the lack of buttons is disappointing if inevitable. I’ve had a Polestar 3 Performance Plus Pilot (stupid name) for 5 months now and the infotainment/HAVC is a constant source of irritation. This looks like it will be no different. I thought I’d just get used to it and figure out shortcuts that made accessing the things i really need much easier. I was wrong. Hitting the right button at the right time is often a challenge unless the road is smooth (almost nowhere in the UK) and often even when you do it doesn’t work, so you have to prod it again and again. It’s not uncommon for the “you seem distracted, concentrate on driving” message to appear, which is obviously deeply infuriating. CarPlay connects on its own once in every ten attempts, the steering wheel buttons are a joke and that’s before the farce of the key situation. It is a great drive and feels well put together with tons of equipment. But it is ruined by the crap tech and lack of any sense of connection to the vehicle. I also have an FL5 Civic Type R that is gloriously easy to use by comparison (ADAS annoyances notwithstanding). It has tactile buttons and knobs for things you actually want them for. Genius!

Well, as a family we’ve needed a back-up daily for a while, as the old Nissan Leaf didn’t have the range we needed now that we live in the countryside. Mrs Leins’ SantaFe takes the brunt of the abuse - kids, dogs, shopping, etc - but we needed something for when that was in use and I needed to head off somewhere. My other fun cars don’t real
I’d take it over a RR.. I don’t think it looks as bad as everyone is suggesting. Far better looking than Mercedes and BMW offerings recently

Literally nothing bongs except seatbelts here in the US. Who is “in favor” of this in the UK? Can you not pressure local MPs to take a position?

(I have a 911 turbo S, it has all the huff and puff to keep EV's firmly in the rear view mirror..)At least if you wear crocks in public, they allow your soul to slowly flow out of the holes, EV's take it away from you when you make some form of argument about any benefits or reason for owning one....Rant over, ready

Such a shame to see what has become of the Volvo brand specifically. They used to make some great, functional, comfortable interiors. Hard to believe now, but they had a reputation for safety as the pioneered things like seatbelts and crumple zones while keeping things very ergonomic, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road ahead.Edited by ducnick on Wednesday 19th August 09:37
