Car prices rocketed when everyone wanted a big, blinged-up SUV. Do the geometry and there's not much more material needed to build a big car than a small car, just more space inside and more toys. But buyers were happy because their Truck-Rover looked big. The Chinese couldn't get a sniff with their Ssangyong and other tat.Then Toyota turned up with their bland Prius followed by Musk with his bland Teslas. "We can do that", thought Mr Chinaman and cracked out a viable range of cheaper elecric cars while Boris Johnson was dreaming about UK taking a lead in electric propulsion.Then Mr Chinaman thought "let's have a crack at an electric sports car, the MG Cyberster" while his friend thiught "let's buy a British sports car company and write the name on big, expensive, electric SUVs". Neither plan worked out very well. Meanwhile Johnny English was enjoying his cheap and cheerful Chinese electric cars. Johnny Frenchman spotted the writing on the wall and also started selling rather good, cheaper electric cars. Johnny English decided to stop making cars except bling-barges for footballers and dictators.I find it hard to see how SC01 can be anything more than another electric car but with less space in it. Low volume? Just look at the massive cost of vehicles like Ariel, Morgan and Lotus.
