I think if I wanted to really look into the risk vehicles pose to third parties, I would ask the insurance companies. Are these large/heavy vehicles dramatically more expensive to insure?
Dusty964 said: je777 said: But Dusty964 has never killed anyone so that means nobody driving an SUV ever has.Edited by je777 on Friday 25th September 11:16 My comment was in respone to your comment- Ergo, governments should stop allowing manufacturers to make these needlessly dangerous vehicles.I have never once purchased a car based on its safety, nor the likelihood of it ending badly if I hit a pedestrian- ie, my Armada was purchased as it had 8 seats, could go where I needed it to off road, was comfy, had amazing ac etc etc. At no stage of the purchase did I think..Id better not have one of these in case I hit a pedestrian.Should legislation be required, I would suggest that tougher driving tests and regular re-tests to ensure standards are met and drivers are compliant would be sensible. Ensure that those operating these 'needlessly dangerous vehicles' are safe to do so. I would suggest removing perpetual dangerous drivers and the uninsured on a permanent basis would also be prudent.Whilst its no doubt tragic that (according to a quick google) that 364 pedestrians were killed having been struck by a vehicle in the UK in 2025. 245 of those were struck by a car (33% by other vehicles- no doubt you have simialr plans for the government to ban these too) its also reported that 56% of the pedestrians are noted as being 'careless or in a hurry', 29% 'incorrect use of crossing facility by person crossing the road' 20% 'Pedestrian showing risk taking behaviour in carriageway' 7% 'affected by alcohol'.So, whilst the blunt, high front of an SUV may be a disaster for a pedestrian, perhaps the onus should be on other members of society....to not get pissed...not run across roads in front of large hurty cars, keep an eye on their children so they dont run across the road. Make sure they are visible. Allow sufficient time to get where they are going...mitigate their own risks, rather than legisltate against the vehicle. Ive manged to not even bounce a pedestrian into the

Terminator X said: You know what he means, EV is cheap power Vs a similar power ICE. The EV is probably half the price. You will have people in 600hp EVs that would never have got there in a petrol car. Plus also you have people now getting into 600hp cars at a young age Vs the ICE route was always start off with a 90hp Polo or whatever and it might take you 20 years before you got that M5. Plenty of time to get used to the power gradually. TX. TX, when will you accept that EVs are the future of the car? It’s completely and utterly pointless pushing back against the inevitable progress? Don't forgot the Fastback version
I’ve always thought these were a smart looking car. Seems like a bit of fun to be had as well. Charging not the best but I’d take a look if I wasn’t sticking to ICE for the foreseeable future.

This looks fantastic. I think it's got to a point you'd have to be daft to buy the G90 M5 over this or a top end Taycan. Either pure combustion or pure electric, the PHEVs are just a pointless, overcomplicated middle option

Still as subtle as a brick in your face. Not for me.

Other than a slightly bulky rear end, I think that looks fantastic. 9/10. And it's a saloon, not another bloody SUV - hurrah!
