cobra kid said: Regarding the one pedal driving - is the "motor braking" as effective as it sounds? Instead of lifting off completely, like in an ICE, do you gradually come off the gas pedal (yes I know!) to a point where it's at a standstill?Yes, its very effective - it also puts a decent amount of juice back in the battery which obviously helps with overall economy. The severity of the regen can be adjusted, I prefer mine on maximum which means it will stop the almost to a complete standstill - Brakes almost never get used on it so will last for a serious amount of time. It will not even have occured to many of them, especially if nobody ever told them about it when they were learning or a new driver. Some cars are more forgiving of it than others.I said exactly this to my daughter as well, and she's always amazed at the mpg that I get when I drive her car in comparison to her. I said that if she slows everything down a bit, and she drives as smooth as she can as you mention, she'll get more mpg out of her car for sure. Driving for economy is boring though(and certainly not very PH), plus it never bothered me at her age either, whereas I weirdly get a kick out of it now that I'm in my 50's though. I'm getting old and boring I reckon! My Dad told me about being smooth, rather than just flooring the gas, slamming through the gears, heaving on the wheel and stomping on the brakes as I was inclined to do as a new driver. Keeping the car balanced is the next stage from that, that few people understand or ever achieve.Looking ahead, anticipating and smoothness are key. You can progress fairly briskly without unsettling the passengers. The economy side of it comes as a bonus. Fuel, tyres and brakes last me much longer now than they did 30 years ago.Edited by MC Bodge on Thursday 27th August 11:15
