Unreal said: I feel for you. A few years back this would have been snapped up as a cheap runabout or a good starter car for a new driver. Leasing is killing older cars. Parents will put their 17yo in a £10K nearly new car 'because safer' and the 17yos turn their noses up at an old car. The number of people willing to get their hands dirty and do the jobs you've been prepared to do is dwindling by the day. I get bored easily so I've just taken an old Renault off a friend. One elderly owner, 60,000 miles but battered outside and now MOT expired and some electrical glitches no local garage

Hmmmm, "ghosts in the shed"...or another failing thermostat on the horizon, most likely the latter, had one 50k miles ago.Done some heavy mileage this weekend, 610 miles to be precise.Along with the blower motor not working only on #4, a new relay didn't fix the issue, worth a shot! I have received the new resistor in the post, and will fit when I get some time back home.Averaging 50mpg over those miles this weekend, bloody happy with that still, cheaper than a friggin' diesel with the crazy pump prices currently!Edited by 7 5 7 on Sunday 27th September 20:49 Blimey, you really do some real miles... Well, my Mondeo (I don't think I should keep calling it my fathers..) has been treated to some new window wipers (now rather quiet compared to what was on the car before) and some proper Ford carpet mats. Unfortunately the ebay assured fit nonsense was wrong when ordering the antenna base so I've ordered a cheap part that looks much more like it. Last up is an oil change and proper clean.
