I was looking around the supermarket carpark in dispair today.If you built 1999 Mondeo 1.8 Hatches today and sold them for 25k you'd sell them by the million. Cars have gone dramatically backwards.Am I right?

I kind of want to be the old man shouting at clouds, but I personally think EVs are fantastic things. Why on earth would you want a clattery four pot diesel or a wky 1.6 litre petrol wheezing away on your daily trudge to work when you can travel in silence with instant torque? I’m a petrol head through-and-through but as a white-goods daily I’d say EVs with cabin pre-heat, CarPlay and high levels of safety so you and your children don’t end up mangled in a crash are exactly what the public want.If you’ve got a bit of money to spend (or borrow) a massive SUV enables you to float over the potholed riddled excuses for roads in comfort while ensuring your family is safe when you plough your 3 tonne tank into a 1.8 litre, twenty five year old Mondeo. Sure, they’re not making stuff for enthusiasts so much any more, but the general stuff for getting from A to B is infinitely better than the ste from the early 2000s. And I own a car from the early 2000s! And when I do have the misfortune of driving at rush hour, and see the insane way people drive when trying to get home, I’m quite happy that their cars have lots of driver aids!

Hi All,I own a 2004 MX-5, which I recently paid £3000 for welding and £1400 for an underside repaint, seal and cavity wax.The insurance comparison sites say my car is worth £1500, however prices online vary wildly from £1000 for a rust bucket to £10,000 for a pristine low milage example.
